Review of Fairmont Washington, D.C. for Family Travel

​A detailed photo tour and review for a stay in Washington D.C. at the Fairmont, the heart of luxury in the perfect location. Within walking distance to many historical highlights, shopping, amazing restaurants, and museums, this hotel surpassed my expectations in service and comfort. Surprisingly, I was not accompanied by my family for this visit. However, the next time we take a family trip to Washington D.C., we'll know where to stay.

The elegant lobby, drenched in soft colors and light, is wonderfully inviting and the hospitality begins right away. I didn't have to lift a finger from the minute I stepped inside. After an easy check-in, I was enthusiastically guided upstairs to my beautifully appointed room and I couldn't stop admiring the hotel along the way.  From my first impression, every member of the staff went out of their way to give me a warm welcome. This is when you know you are in for a treat! 

Room

I stayed in a Fairmont Gold Queen/Queen Room on the 9th floor (room 916 as pictured below.) This hotel had a recent renovation of the guest rooms, including the lobby, and it's phenomenal! It's good to know when traveling with kids, the 9th floor is accessible on the elevator by card key only and the Gold Lounge is conveniently on this floor. 

Comfort comes easy with these plush headboards and beds.

With terrific water pressure, this rainfall shower is wonderful.

If you aren't ready to head out, enjoy the in-room coffee and mini-bar.

With lots of plugs for electronics, this desk is the perfect size.

Dining

Gold Lounge 

If you are staying on this floor, head to the Gold Lounge for breakfast in the morning. The selections change daily and they always feature hot and cold items. I was thrilled to see delicious eggs and meats, pastries, and fresh fruit and cheeses. Not to mention, yogurts, cereal and much more. A perfect start to the day! ​

Have a seat in the Gold Lounge for a bite to eat, to work, or just relax any time of day.

​​Oh, YES! Energize in the afternoon with the sweet treats offered at the candy and cookie bar.  I love that they even have take-out bags! Plus, with a wide assortment of beverages, you'll never be thirsty. 

Activities

Head to the airy courtyard right off of the main lobby to enjoy the sparkling fountain and seating. The hotel offers many events depending on the time of year you are visiting. From beautiful decorations and tea during the winter holidays to vibrant events held outside during the warmer months, you can plan your visit to enjoy every season. 

I am definitely a huge fan of Fairmont Hotels. I was able to relax and rejuvenate even during a busy work visit. I am definitely excited to get back and stay with my family at a Fairmont Hotel again soon.​
