The Retreat at Luminae on Celebrity Cruises

Designated as the dining option for guests in the Retreat (suite class), Luminae is comparable to any 5-star restaurant on land. During our 7-night Western Caribbean cruise, we enjoyed the Opus Main Dining Room with our cruising companions (our boys!) who were not in a suite. Afterwards, we went off and dined in Luminae for dessert on Night 3 and a full dinner on Night 5.
From the minute you walk into this welcoming, luxurious dining room, you just know you are in for a treat. First, since you are in a more intimate dining space on a regular basis, the staff will start to greet you by name. I always love this type of special service. And the décor is absolutely stunning! The elegant chairs are perfectly matched to the window designs and lighting. The subtle gold and glass accents are beautiful, along with the table wear. But when the beautifully presented food arrives at your seat, you know you've made the right choice. It's obvious that care is taken in using the most quality ingredients and the food and beverage staff will do everything they can to make even the most casual breakfast an unforgettable experience. Dining in Luminae is worth the upgrade to elevate your cruise dining experience.

Year after year, the food is consistently amazing and the items on the menus don't change much, although don't be surprised if they might change nights on you. I don't mind this since we typically travel in suites and dine in the Retreat at Luminae, so it's a fun opportunity to try out new selections.

Virtual Hint: They have wonderful Maitre d' and staff at Luminae. Do not hesitate to bring your children. They most definitely are more than welcome and if the choices are not what they desire (for kids and adults as well), they are happy to bring a favorite item served in the MDR or anything they wish.
Experience the Suite Life Dining...
One thing I truly love is the seating placement in Luminae. Not only is the ambiance absolutely stunning, as you see below, but the tables have a nice amount of room in between so that you aren't bumping up against the other guests. To me, this makes the dining experience more enjoyable. It's quiet and relaxing with a spacious feel.

If you dine in the main dining room or specialty restaurant, it's not a problem to stop by just to enjoy dessert in Luminae. We made a reservation but it's not necessary. Try one of their specialty drinks or a pairing from the wine menu. They have a terrific selection and the dedicated sommelier will be happy to help you with a pairing to perfectly compliment your meal.

Virtual Hint: If you have a hard time deciding what to order, take my advice and get the Luminae Signature Burger. Everyone in the family will love it!
So that we could plan ahead for dinner, the Concierge in Michael's Club (now the Retreat Lounge) was happy to print us out a menu ahead of time to see our choices for dinner. You can also find them on the Celebrity Cruises app. This is helpful to know exactly what menu they have picked for each day. They do seem to change from ship to ship or time of year. Although scroll further and you can see the latest Luminae at the Retreat menus before you cruise!
I am always ready to sample a wonderful dessert. Not only are these delicious, but truly pieces of art.
As luxurious as the dining room appears and the menu choices sound unusual, don't hesitate to arrive Evening Chic and order something that you would not typically try. At times, the menu can sound limited or not what you may think you would like, but once it arrives everything is amazingly delicious and satisfying. Plus, it's the kind of casual elegance that fits everyone's comfort zone. You'll still have to adhere to required dress code but if you feel a bit more casual one night or want to dress in a tuxedo or gown, you'll fit in. This dining experience is wonderful and you'll definitely want to keep coming back to a suite for more.
