Sushi on Five on Celebrity Cruises
Photos taken on board Celebrity Reflection March 2016, Celebrity Equinox August 2017 and Celebrity Solstice 2019
This was a new "pop-up" restaurant when first started on Celebrity Reflection in place of Bistro on Five in March 2016. Now it's been rolled out fleetwide and is a top hit! The wait staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, they have a trained sushi chef who freshly prepares each sushi order right in front of you. It was hard to choose what to order with so many different types of noodle bowls to choose from, numerous original sushi combinations and even desserts with an Asian twist. I was originally a bit skeptical since this is an a la carte style restaurant, unlike specialty restaurants typically found with a one-time cover charge. If you want to try an assortment of dishes, it can add up quickly. However on the flip side, when you discover a treat that you just can't live without (for me it was the Mochi Ice Cream) then you can just purchase the one item instead of paying for an entire meal.
When dining in the restaurant, the decor is elegantly Asian-inspired and the main entrance features a stocked counter where you can watch the sushi chef prepare the plates right in front of you. Not to mention, the service is truly top notch.
On Celebrity Edge ships (currently Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond, and Celebrity Ascent) many of these menu items have moved over to their version of this restaurant, called Raw on 5. See information and review of Raw on 5 here.
The phenomenal menu at Sushi on Five offers a varied selection for the authentic guests, as well as for those who are not as adventuresome. Make sure to try one of their signature cocktails or beer.
We are VERY excited to go back to Sushi on Five on every cruise. To our amazement, we discovered that they now have a carry-out service! You can order "Sushi To Go" from the television in your stateroom or give them a call on your phone. Then just run down and pick it up or ask if they will deliver. This is a perfect way to enjoy delicious Japanese specialties while having a picnic on the top deck of the ship or for dining on your stateroom balcony.
