Pier 39
Planning a visit? Check out their website: http://www.visitfishermanswharf.com/
What a fantastic area for visiting with kids! Pier 39 has a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions, all in a carnival-like atmosphere complete with street performers. There is also a museum with relic video games and Aquarium of the Bay where you can walk through tunnels under sharks, stingrays, starfish and more.
You can take a boat tour out to Alcatraz Island leaving from Pier 39. Or, if time is an issue, just snap a picture.
Make sure to visit the famous sea lions. They can always be found relaxing and frolicking by the end of the pier.
If you looking for even more activity, you can find bicycle rentals, open-air city bus tours, and other attractions in this area.
Hungry? Just think of the food you want and you will find it here. A must try is a sourdough bread bowl filled with delicious, hot clam chowder. Whether you sample donuts, corn dogs, seafood or fresh fruit, it will most assuredly be the best you've ever had.
The closest stop to ride the infamous San Francisco Cable Car is only a few blocks over from Pier 39 at the corners of Bay Street and Taylor Street. Hop on to take a scenic tour and explore the other districts in San Francisco. You can get discounted bulk passes, but currently it costs $7/PP trip or $20/PP unlimited all day.
