San Jose Marriott for Family Travel
The San Jose Marriott is the perfect destination for family travel in San Jose, California. In 2016, my son was invited to a computer gaming conference in San Jose. Right away, I booked a room at the San Jose Marriott at 301 South Market Street, San Jose, California 950013, USA. Not only was it convenient since the conference was going to be on-site, but the location of the San Jose Marriott is perfect for exploring the city.
On the lobby level of the San Jose Marriott, you'll find plenty of seating areas with TV's (this was perfect for my visit during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games) and a great business area with computers and printers. Don't forget to get a complimentary drink of fruited water in the lobby too. The strawberry was my favorite!
Rooms at San Jose Marriott
We selected a King Bed Corner room at the San Jose Marriott. With multiple windows, it provides lots of light and a variety of views. The beds are very comfortable and the mini-refrigerator held a substantial amount. Small bottles of water are complimentary and if you need more, just ask. If you are in a room with Concierge level access, this includes a lounge for complimentary food presentations and non-alcoholic beverages available during the weekdays.
Even with 26 floors, the elevators are fast and always seemed to be available. (I'm a bit claustrophobic, so this is crucial!)
Dining at San Jose Marriott
Admittedly, I get hungry often, and there is always a place to get something to eat at the San Jose Marriott.
The Corner Market Kitchen features Starbucks Coffee, as well as a terrific selection of fresh pastries, desserts, sandwiches and salads. They also carry an expansive selection of drinks, candy, chips, novelty ice cream, and even wine and beer. Need some souvenirs or gifts for friends back home? This is the place to get them! They have 49ers and Giants gear, along with lots of San Francisco and San Jose memorabilia. Truly one of the best sundry shop I've seen at a hotel.

Arcadia is their beautiful specialty restaurant and is phenomenal. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner menu is created by restaurateur Michael Mina and the meals are prepared exquisitely by their talented in-house Executive Chef. See my full review, menus, and photos of Arcadia.
I always love to experience in-room dining and they have a wonderful menu. During our recent visit, for a late night snack we ordered a hamburger and a falafel sandwich. If you are a falafel fan like I am, I highly recommend it. Served with pesto and arugula, it's delicious. But the biggest surprise was the delicious dessert we splurged on...Chocolate Molten Cake. It was amazing!
Activities at San Jose Marriott
The weather in San Jose can vary in temperature by going from chilly one minute to hot the next. This means that the pool stays at a comfortable temperature year round. With piped-in Jazz music, comfortable lounges with umbrellas and complimentary towels, the rooftop pool on the third floor is the perfect place to relax. There is also a terrific fitness room on this level as well. I rated this as a top pick for rooftop pools.
If you are attending an event in the San Jose Convention Center, you can't get a better location. Without even going outside, you can easily get back and forth. However, don't let this intimidate you. Often convention hotels are overwhelming and impersonal, but this is definitely not the case at the San Jose Marriott.
Since this hotel is only about 4 miles away from San Jose's International Airport, you have a great view of the airplanes taking off and landing. But don't worry! The building is constructed very well, so it's surprisingly not noisy at all. But if you have an airplane enthusiast in the family like I do, they will be highly entertained looking out of the window to see a variety of types of planes and airlines.
The next time I am visiting the San Jose/Silicon Valley area, I would definitely come back to the San Jose Marriott to experience the service, accommodations and incredible dining all over again.
