Review of Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square for Family Travel
If you are heading to Philadelphia, the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square at 18th and Market Street is the perfect location. Within walking distance to many historical highlights, shopping, amazing restaurants, museums and universities, this hotel surpasses my expectations in service and comfort. It's a great hotel for either a business trip or a family trip to Philadelphia. This is the place to stay.
The lobby is a welcoming with gorgeous modern art and beautiful lighting details. I've stayed here on numerous occasions and one of the features that I love best is that the artwork in the lobby continuously rotates so that it never looks the same!
Room
For family travel, without question, book a King Suite and you won't be sorry! This is suite 2304 below. It has a huge living space with comfortable and cool seating, a dining area, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TWO large televisions, wonderfully comfortable King sized bed, over-sized desk, and a truly spacious bathroom. Perfect!
Below is a Double/Double Deluxe Room on the 8th floor. If you want a convenient floor for family travel, this is it. The rooftop swimming pool is accessed on this floor and has a tremendous view of the city. Even better, if you are a Sonesta Travel Pass Elite member or are staying in a room with Club Lounge access, the Club Lounge is also located on this floor.

I've also stayed in a King Deluxe Room on the 22nd floor in room 2219. What a view this room had!
Dining
Virtual Hint: I was so excited to see that around check-in time they offer guests delicious fruited water and an assortment of treats in the lobby. During my stay, I loved the cold watermelon water and mini cannolis. It was so welcoming after a long day of travel!
No matter what time you arrive, make sure to stop in at the Art Bar. Pick up a light breakfast and flavored coffee made by a barista in the morning. Or enjoy the bar scene with a unique handmade cocktail and delicious appetizer. Don't miss the Buffalo Chicken Dip. I highly recommend it.
Whether you are visiting for a special occasion or just pretending it's a special occasion, there is Ruth's Chris, one of my favorite steakhouses right in the hotel.
When traveling on business, I often enjoy ordering room service for a meal. It's relaxing to have a hot meal brought to you in the comfort of you room while you can still get work, unpacking, etc. done. The last time I visited, I had the most amazing breakfast. This was such a treat. Most impressive was that the coffee arrived fresh and hot, and my pick of a "Healthy Start" breakfast was delicious.
If you are an Travel Pass Elite member or VIP guest, you may also have access to the club lounge. Open during the week, this is a great spot to grab a light breakfast, appetizers in the evening, or snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic) all day. The breakfast is delicious!
Virtual Hint: Sonesta gives complimentary WiFi to guests in their Travel Pass Rewards plan, so don't forget to sign up on-line before you go. If you are an established Travel Pass member, you may receive complimentary water bottles in your room. If not, they charge for bottled water and they are $4 each. If you drink a lot of water and have kids that do also, take a walk to Walgreens a few blocks away to pick a few bottles.
I am definitely a huge fan of Sonesta. With all of their locations in some of my favorite spots (even the Caribbean!) I am definitely excited to get back and stay Sonesta again soon.
