It's great having friends who love to travel as much as I do. I always welcome advice and recommendations for new destinations with the hopes that I may get there one day. Living on the East Coast of the United States, an easy alternative to seeing the glaciers of Alaska is to experience a trip to Iceland. With non-stop flights from many airports, it looks like an fantastic family travel destination. Just look how amazing! One of the 25 wonders of the world, the blue lagoon is stunning. Set in the middle of a lava field, this geothermal spring looks so inviting. It may be chilly outside, but the water is a toasty 98–102 °F. Where else can you have your swim suit on one minute and view ice-blue glaciers the next? In the capital city of Reykjavik, visit Hallgrimskirkja, Iceland's largest church. It is known for its gorgeous design and expansive pipe organ. An elevator goes to the top for an incredible view of the city. Sometimes the best vacations are when you try something different. You may not find large shopping outlets, high-rise hotels, or boisterous bars. But quiet and serene, it's a one-of-a-kind experience. I can only imagine traveling through this beautiful country with its natural wildlife, volcanoes, snow capped mountains and glaciers. Thanks to John's pictures, I can virtually explore Iceland through his family travels and look forward to taking my family there one day.

My Virtual Vacations BlogAbout the AuthorThanks for cruising by! Along with creating this website and blog, I work in an office full-time and as a mom to two energetic young men. With our family's busy work and school schedule, we look forward to traveling during holidays. Although it seems that our family can never agree on anything, we do when it comes to vacations. We typically travel on cruises or stay at luxury hotels while enjoying upscale dining, beautiful decor, excellent service, and spacious accommodations. However, we still need family friendly and comfortable! When we are not traveling, I enjoy dining out locally, as well as cooking and baking in my own kitchen.
