Not ready for our spring break vacation to end right after our cruise, we had the exciting opportunity to visit Lago Mar Resort and Club before heading to the airport. It's located in Fort Lauderdale right between the beach and the Intercoastal. From the moment my family arrived we were transformed to original South Florida beach elegance. Immediately, we were greeted by the friendly and welcoming concierge and hotel staff who guided us inside the beautiful resort. We loved the stunning colorful ocean-themed tile mosaic floors in the lobby. Lago Mar has exquisitely maintained it's traditional charm and decor, while adding modern amenities too. Right away, my boys couldn't wait to see the pools and beach on the property. In theory, finding two swimsuits somewhere in five large pieces of hurriedly packed luggage should be easy. No, maybe not. After only one appeared (and to avoid showcasing all of our personal items in the main lobby) we headed straight for the The Resort Shop at Lago Mar in the hopes to find swim trunks. Once inside, it was not finding one, but which one! Now this is a fabulous shop. From Lago Mar signature items, they also carry an amazingly extensive selection of designer resort wear, swim suits, cover-ups and accessories. I could have spent hours shopping but instead made a quick swimsuit purchase and we were off. Lago Mar has so many different great activities to choose from. With two large swimming pools, a putting course, shuffleboard, outdoor chessboard, tennis courts, expansive picturesque beach with playground and beach volleyball, and numerous seasonal events, it's perfect for families. Even during our visit at the peak of spring break, their private beach wasn't overcrowded with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Multiple dining options are available all around the resort. Eat in a quaint gazebo right by the pool or enjoy poolside drinks right in your lounge chair. After a short swim, we dried off and decided to have lunch in the beautiful indoor restaurant. It offered the same menu available by the pools but we were ready for a bit of air conditioning by this time. We chose a few appetizers to share along with our lunch entrees. Of course, we couldn't pass up trying two of their signature desserts. Nearing our departure time, we discovered that our flight was delayed. Normally we would have been on edge to figure out revised plans. However, with so many beautiful areas of this resort we found a quiet spot to relax and make some phone calls. We were secretly hoping we'd be able to extend our time a bit longer at Lago Mar. We ended up on our flight with only a short delay. But now we can't wait to schedule a longer vacation at Lago Mar. Everyone was truly warm and welcoming and we'd love to experience the activities and events we missed. The Spa is forefront on my mind and the boys are looking for another chance to sample the ice cream at The Soda Shop, not to mention to stay in one of the luxurious room accommodations. Thanks very much to everyone at Lago Mar Resort and Club for our wonderful visit and we can't wait to come back and stay again soon!
