I truly appreciate dining when breakfast creatively meets lunch and Chef Alvin Dela Cruz at the Westend Bistro at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C. does just that. I recently had the opportunity to enjoy brunch there and it was nothing short of amazing. Chef Alvin takes pride in finding seasonal produce daily and uses only the freshest of ingredients in his inspired dishes. He takes traditional brunch fare and makes it glamorous, both in taste and presentation.

While the restaurant itself is relaxing and surrounded in warm jewel tones, the menu is fun and imaginative with something for everyone's taste. 

Buttermilk Biscuits with House Made Butter

Order this for the table and you'll be in foodie heaven already. Freshly prepared warm buttermilk biscuits are incredible alone or when topped with the rich maple butter.

Cornbread Madeleines with Blueberry Tarragon Jam

Served with amazing homemade blueberry jam, these cornbread madeleines are wonderfully light and airy.

Greek Yogurt Bowl

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of yogurt, but I'd run back to brunch again to enjoy this delicious Greek yogurt with homemade granola and honeyed fresh fruit. It's a perfect breakfast all on it's own.

Chef Alvin Dela Cruz brings tasty and fresh Roasted Zucchini, Eggplant, and Tomatoes to our table.

Delicately fried, these seasonal treats are incredible. 

Avocado Toast

All of my favorite tastes melded into one! This dish of crushed avocado, poached eggs and fresh vegetables beautifully placed on freshly toasted bread is decadent. 

"Crispy Chicken: E.F.C. (Ernell’s Fried Chicken) & Sausage Gravy"

I love the personalized name on the menu for this fried chicken eggs benedict dish. A twist on the classic, a rich sausage gravy is used for the topping and adds traditional Southern charm. 

New York Strip

This farm to table pepper crusted steak melts in your mouth and is perfect along with the french fries. Plus, a delicious mayonnaise on the side. Admittedly, I love to dip everything. 

Apple Waffle with Vanilla Ice Cream

You know I never miss dessert! These waffles topped with ice cream are a treat anytime.

French Toast Bites with Mint Ice Cream

Fresh mint is one of my favorite summertime tastes and even better when it's in homemade ice cream surrounded by bites of fried bread drizzled with syrup.

I am a huge fan of Ritz-Carlton properties and always confident that dining at one will be exceptional. But to take the time to have a luxurious and delicious brunch in the heart of bustling Washington D.C. is a true experience. I can't wait to get back!
