Nestled in between Boca Raton and Pompano Beach is Deerfield Beach, a South Florida beach city that can be quietly serene one day and bustling with excitement the next. Deerfield Beach is conveniently located within a short driving distance to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. And, YES! The city got it's name from the numerous deer that previously roamed the area. So if you are looking for a relaxing family vacation with a beautiful beach, lots of unique activities, and crave fresh seafood, discover Deerfield Beach for your next family vacation. Deerfield Beach, Florida for Beach Family VacationsWhere to Stay?If you are looking to stay in Deerfield Beach, many of the hotels are on a smaller scale. However, there are some fabulous choices right on the beach. I'm a huge fan of staying on the beach when visiting Florida, especially in the summertime. The ocean breeze keeps you cool on hot summer days and you won't believe the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets right outside your window. I've narrowed it down from Trip Advisor's picks for my top 3 places I'd want to stay and best reasons why:
Where to Eat?Head straight to Deerfield Beach for seafood dining with a local flair! Many fantastic restaurants are situated right by the beach and have a fun, enthusiastic vibe. Or go inland a bit and experience more relaxed selections. See my top 3 picks for food in Deerfield Beach: Located directly on the beach, sit inside or dine on the patio and take in the ocean air. Enjoy live entertainment everyday while experiencing the local fare. JB's On The Beach is open for lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. Best known for their Bahamian Seafood Chowder, it's a must try. Located on the beach, it's the highlight of any beach day. Another infamous seafood spot in Deerfield Beach is The Whale's Rib. Known for the freshest of seafood, including stone crab claws, the best fried seafood, conch chowder and SO much more, It was even featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. With the same menu for lunch and dinner, you'll have all day to grab your favorite local craving. Head off the beach for a delicious array of Mexican food without having to travel to Mexico. Casa Maya Grill is that authentic! Continuously voted one of South Florida's best Mexican restaurants, this gem is conveniently located in the Cove Shopping Center in Deerfield Beach. What to Do?Even when we don't stay in Deerfield Beach, we visit the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. Fishing is a great outdoor activity to enjoy when vacationing as a family. The Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier is as easy as it gets for a one-stop fishing destination. Located right off A1A, you'll find metered parking and all gear needed (rod, bait, bucket, etc.) which can be rented for only a small fee. To get on the pier, currently the fee is $1.00 for sightseeing and $4.00 for fishing. The pier is well-taken care of and you'll find fish cleaning stations, water, and benches. Nearby are restroom facilities, lots of restaurants, and of course a beautiful beach. Do you love seeing fish but can't get to Deerfield Beach in person? Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier has a live stream underwater camera set up below the fishing pier. You can pretend you are there every day, even just sitting at your computer! Great place to keep in mind for those days that might not be beach perfect or you are just looking to get out there and bounce! Think trampoline park, ropes courses, zip line, rock climbing walls, indoor paintless paintball...all under one roof. Fun for kids of all ages, it definitely is a highlight for any vacation. I hope these ideas have given you incentive to discover Deerfield Beach, Florida. Let me know if you go. I'd love to hear if you enjoy it as much as we do!

My Virtual Vacations BlogAbout the AuthorThanks for cruising by! Along with creating this website and blog, I work in an office full-time and as a mom to two energetic young men. With our family's busy work and school schedule, we look forward to traveling during holidays. Although it seems that our family can never agree on anything, we do when it comes to vacations. We typically travel on cruises or stay at luxury hotels while enjoying upscale dining, beautiful decor, excellent service, and spacious accommodations. However, we still need family friendly and comfortable! When we are not traveling, I enjoy dining out locally, as well as cooking and baking in my own kitchen.
