Spotlight On: Sky Suite on Celebrity Cruises

Spotlight On: Sky Suite on Celebrity Cruises
One of the biggest challenges I often hear about cruising is that space is a premium. On Celebrity Cruises for only a nominal amount you can upgrade to an entry level Sky Suite and upgrade your entire cruise vacation. Not only will you have a larger living area plus a pull-out sofa bed, but the perks in a Celebrity Cruises suite are amazing!
Have you stayed in a Sky Suite on Celebrity Cruises? Take a minute to add it to the cruise cabin tracking list so future cruisers can see your review.

What do you get when cruising in a Celebrity Cruises Sky Suite? Here is a list of the amenities offered to Sky Suite guests from Celebrity Cruises website:
  • Sky Suite is listed as 251 sq. ft. Veranda 57 sq. ft.
  • Personal butler service
  • Luminae-private restaurant
  • Michael's Club-exclusive lounge
  • Priority check-in & debarkation
  • In-suite breakfast, lunch & dinner service
  • Complimentary daily in-suite espresso and cappuccino
  • Luxury Bulgari bath amenities & plush robes
  • Spacious veranda
  • Reserved theatre seating on select nights
Have you experienced the ease of having a butler before? If you aren't sure what you can request of them, see 21 Requests to Ask Your Cruise Butler for helpful and unique suggestions.
But there are still a few things not mentioned above that are extraordinary in creating your perfect upscale family vacation. Wait until you hear...
Love a view from the back of the ship? You are in luck! On the Celebrity Cruises Solstice class ships, there are an abundance of Sky Suites located in the aft. Within these Sky Suites located in the back, you'll find two different versions. The corner Sky Suites (S1) have amazing views of the back of the ship and around the corner, giving you a memorable 180 degree panoramic view. The Sky Suite (S2) has a gorgeous straight view off the back of the ship. On the Millennium class ships, Sky Suites are found in wonderful, prime locations mid-ship.
Looking for connecting staterooms? Perfect for families who like to spread out with extra space. Sky Suites on Solstice class ships are typically connected to either a stateroom or another Sky Suite (S2). My favorite feature is that the two staterooms are enclosed with another hallway door, making a small alcove (or "foyer" as our family calls it) between the two. You can see on the below diagram from Celebrity Cruises website how the Celebrity Cruises Sky Suite 1403 connects with a Celebrity Cruises Concierge Class 1405 with a short hallway between the two. What you don't see is there is a door in the hallway between 1405 and 1407. Of course, if the staterooms are not traveling together, the door is kept open.

So, what is Luminae? Starting at the Sky Suite and above, all suites have access to Luminae, the dining room reserved for suite guests. A small portion of the main dining was transformed into this elegant venue and it is phenomenal. When we first experienced Luminae, we were not expecting much more than a smaller venue and possibly more personalized service. But we know now that it is a truly special experience.
First of all, when traveling with a family it's more realistic to be able to enjoy dinner whenever everyone is hungry. Reservations are not required in Luminae (although suggested.)
The meals are prepared in a separate galley so the menu is completely different from the main dining room. It offers exceptional choices with an artistic preparation that rivals any fine dining restaurant on land. However, it's not a problem if you'd like a selection from another venue or substitute an item. They are always happy to accommodate. Perfect for those picky eaters!

Finally, my favorite perk is that suite guests have the option to dine in Luminae for lunch upon embarking the ship on the first day. Granted, it's a tradition to explore the items on the expansive buffet so you are excited about the delicious food selections to come on your journey. But there is something relaxing and inviting to enjoy your first meal in a serene and beautiful setting.
Dine on the veranda. With a request or quick phone call, your butler can arrange breakfast or dinner for you on the veranda. With a large glass door leading out to your spacious veranda, this is the best way to add even more living area. Typically, the verandas on staterooms have limited seating but not in a Sky Suite. Enjoy a dining table and chairs to have a full meal or even a dessert and after dinner drink while watching the stars overhead. The upgraded furniture makes this easy and a luxurious experience.

As an entry level suite, the Sky Suite doesn't feel entry level. With an abundance of perks and prime living space, a Sky Suite experience is perfect to enjoy for your family vacation or even on a romantic cruise getaway for two.
We've recently stayed in Sky Suites on Celebrity Reflection and Celebrity Solstice, Click to see actual pictures inside and reviews of these suites.  You'll also discover some of our favorite crew on board and see the latest amenities.
Do you like staying in suites when you travel? I'd love to hear!
Keep in mind: These are the perks available at the time this article was written. Celebrity Cruises may change or discontinue any perks at any time. Always check with your Michael's Club Concierge, Butler, or On Shore Concierge to see what is available at the time of your sailing.

Hi Cindy,

I apologize for not responding sooner! For some odd reason, I didn't receive your message.

There are Sky Suites on all of Celebrity Cruises ships. They typically have Sky Suites in the aft of the ship or in mid-ship (See photos here: https://www.myvirtualvacations.net/sky-suite.html) We've stayed in both and loved them. They are a little bit larger on the Millennium ships, than the Solstice ships. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    About the Author

Thanks for cruising by!  Along with creating this website and blog, I work in an office full-time and as a mom to two energetic teenage boys. With our family's busy work and school schedule, we look forward to traveling during holidays. Although it seems that our family can never agree on anything, we do when it comes to vacations. We typically travel on cruises or stay at luxury hotels. We enjoy upscale dining, beautiful decor, excellent service, and spacious accommodations. However, we still need family friendly and comfortable. When we are not traveling, I enjoy dining out locally, as well as cooking and baking in my own kitchen.

    Up Next...

There is no stopping us! Even though travel has come to a halt, I'm rescheduling, planning, and preparing for the next phase of cruise and travel. Plus, I'm working on my website to add even more cruise and travel resources.

Meanwhile, we are anxiously awaiting our cruise to the ABC (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) islands with Celebrity Cruises over the holidays in 2021. As many of you, this is our 3rd reschedule and really hoping it's the last!
