I always take my own advice and never arrive on the same day as my cruise leaves. A pre-cruise stay in Fort Lauderdale means vacation gets to start early! It's perfect since Fort Lauderdale is easily accessible to both Port Everglades and Port Miami. Plus, I'm obsessed with the gorgeous beach views. I've always wanted to stay on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and I knew right away the Hollywood Beach Marriott would be a great choice to start our cruise vacation. With the hotel towering over the expansive walkway next to a picturesque beach, shopping and restaurants are only a short stroll away. Checking in was extremely easy and my husband and I were greeted with a glass of bubbly rosé. They know me already! The kids were offered snacks and cold bottled water. This was a welcoming touch after a long day of traveling. For our family of four, we reserved two connecting rooms. With teenagers, it's a pleasure to have two spacious bathrooms and a bed for everyone. And these beds with pillowtop mattresses and luxurious sheets are SO plush and comfortable! Plus, we each had an outside balcony with chairs to enjoy the calming ocean view. The hotel also has larger suites, which can be an option for extra space and sleeping room for families. The rooms offer plentiful amenities. Right away I was taken with the "mini-refrigerator" that isn't so mini. It's a nice size and perfect if you are staying with kids for an extended period of time and want to store some drinks and snacks. Here are a few of my other favorite details about the rooms from their website:
I'm always ready for a meal and the dining at the Hollywood Beach Marriott is fresh and fabulous. The main restaurant, Latitudes, is truly versatile for whatever dining style you prefer. The inside dining room is comfortably decorated in warm hues. They offer a wonderful menu full of local specialties. My personal favorite was the conch fritters we ordered for the table. In the morning, make sure to head to the breakfast buffet for a delicious start to the day. They have a decadent selection of gourmet entrees, as well as light fare. Or dine outdoors, where you can enjoy the fresh ocean breeze in a trendy atmosphere right on the Broadwalk. It's the perfect place for lunch or to have an after-dinner drink and dessert in the evening while relaxing beachfront. For me, it's always about the location and Hollywood Beach Marriott's location can't be beat! Simply walk out of the hotel and you are directly on the beautiful beach. With soft white sand and turquoise water, this is what vacationing is all about. Or you may choose to relax by the pool, enjoy the fitness room, or take a complimentary bicycle for a cool ride down the Broadwalk. Everyone in the family is bound to find an activity they love here. For personalized suggestions, visit the Concierge Desk found conveniently by the entrance. One of my favorite things is to people watch in one of the cozy spots found throughout the sprawling lobby. If you are doing a pre-cruise stay, it's an easy 30 to 45 minute ride to the Port of Miami. The bellhops will happily call for a taxi and assist with luggage. Or else an Uber driver is typically right around the corner. I am looking forward to getting back to Fort Lauderdale already! Whether you want to check-out a pre-cruise stay or a destination for your family beach vacation, the Hollywood Beach Marriott is where you'll want to check-in. Disclaimer: I was graciously hosted by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau for one of our two rooms. As always, all opinions are my own based on my own experiences.
